I've never been a big fan of golf, but John Daly has always been one of my favorite professional athletes.
Golf snobs may not love Daly due to his non-country club appearance as well as his rough personal life, but I think that makes him a fan favorite to the common man.
Daly won his first PGA Tour Champions event on Sunday at Insperity Invitational played at The Woodlands Country Club. This was Daly's first win in the United States since 2004. Immediately following the win, Daly got a champagne shower and reminded me why I've always been a huge fan.

“For me it’s like, you know, some guys come out here and win right off the bat, get the monkey off their back,” Daly said. “But now I can say I’m a champion on the Champions Tour, which is really cool and hopefully I can keep this confidence going.”
Is anyone surprised that John Daly wanted to celebrate his first win with a beer?
I just want a Miller Lite,” Daly said. “That’s all I want.”
