On Sunday afternoon Kentucky guard Hamidou Diallo announced that he'd test the NBA Draft waters, but won't hire an agent. Hearing that a Kentucky player will try to head to the NBA is typically the least surprising news ever, but Diallo's situation is a little different.
The New York native never even played a game for Kentucky. Calipari prides himself in being an NBA Factory and has often made it clear that getting his players to the league is more important than winning championships. However, he usually gets at least one season out of his players.
A handful of Kentucky fans were instantly mad online after this news became public.
@UKCoachCalipari Confused Thought thought rule is one and done? so now 4 months counts as one year?— Randy Perkins (@randyperkins65) April 23, 2017
@UKCoachCalipari Not cool. What about the 4 star kids that are playing in KY that would love to live the dream of playing at UK and not in the NBA— Charles Kersey (@KerseyCharles) April 23, 2017
@UKCoachCalipari So are we bringing in guys for free camps now? You don't have to play, just learn from Cal and do nothing for the team then jet? Sucks— Jonathon Blasdell (@JohnnyBlaze_82) April 23, 2017
@UKCoachCalipari Are you kidding me? Why come then? I have no problem with one and done but I have a problem being a practice facility.— Brenda Covington (@BrendaCovingto6) April 24, 2017
