Why Aaron Rodgers Never Came Close to Having the Career of Tom Brady

Colin Cowherd: [during a ‘Where Colin Was Right, Where Colin Was Wrong’ segment] “Years ago when everyone started saying that Aaron Rodgers was the real ‘GOAT’ and not Brady, my takeaway was ‘there is more than just throwing a pretty football.’ Brady is a better leader, Brady plays better from behind, Brady is better at the line of scrimmage, and Brady is more coachable. Aaron has had family members take shots at him, Brady has ex-teammates that still love him. There is more to football than being cool and throwing a great ball. Being a good quarterback is about leadership, relatability, how are you as a teammate, and it’s never been close. Tom is the best football player in the history of the National Football League. Aaron is just super-talented… I was a sucker and bought into the Packers. Once they beat the Tennessee Titans in Week 16, I was IN, but yesterday they did something that I’ve seen too many times with Aaron Rodgers. When they fall behind in big games, they are not the same team. They’ve got a front-runner DNA. They’re a ‘BALLER’ with the lead, and a ‘BAILER’ trailing, and yesterday I thought they got tight… Aaron Rodgers is now 1-8 when trailing at home in the playoffs. He’s NOT the same quarterback… He got snippy yesterday in the red zone and he was barking at people. Aaron plays better with a lead, Mahomes plays better trailing, and with Brady, it doesn’t matter, he always plays the same. Aaron's body language changes and he doesn’t take as many shots down the field." (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he was never on the 'Aaron Rodgers is the GOAT’ bandwagon that started gaining steam about 10 years ago when Rodgers was coming off his first Super Bowl victory.

Rodgers has gone just 7-8 in the 15 playoff games since his lone trip to the Super Bowl in 2011 and has lost four consecutive NFC Championship Game appearances (2015, 2017, 2020, 2021).

Check out the video above as Colin details why Rodgers’ career never took off the same way we had expected, given his historically elite traits as a passer.
