Ex-Player: There Was Fear Patriots Reps Would Steal Playbooks From Hotels

Colin Cowherd: “What did you make of this Patriots videotaping story? I see you smiling there.”
Orlando Scandrick: “The Patriots exemplify ‘WHATEVER IT TAKES AT ALL COSTS' to win… Every team in the league is trying to find an advantage and upper hand, but what they did was crazy… Who would think of something like that?? They’re so outside the box.”
Cowherd: “What did you think of New England when you were an Eagle?"
Scandrick: “We didn’t have many encounters with them when I was an Eagle but when we played them in Dallas we were instructed to not leave any types of playbooks around the hotel and to not leave anything that had anything to do with the game plan around the hotel. The myth was, and I don’t know if this is true, but they have people do ‘sweeps’ of hotels and they bring anything to them and use whatever they can… Playbook's gotta be with you at ALL times. If they can record a practice then why can’t they just pay someone to say ‘room service!’ and if you’re not there? Do you put it past them?” (Full Audio at Bottom of Page)

Former NFL cornerback Orlando Scandrick had some interesting comments regarding the New England Patriots latest run-in with mischievous rule-breaking.

It was revealed that a Patriots videographer was taping the Cincinnati Bengals sideline from the press box during Cincy’s game versus the Cleveland Browns last Sunday in Week 14, just one week before the Patriots were scheduled to play the Bengals in Week 15.

The Patriots released a statement saying they were filming video at the game to get content for a new episode of ‘Do Your Job’ that had been running on the team’s website. This episode was centering around the daily duties and life of an advanced scout on the road.

The NFL announced they were investigating the incident, and the bizarre allegations coupled with the dubious excuse given by the Patriots naturally gave rise to the belief that this was the second coming of another ‘SpyGate’ scandal, which resulted in the franchise being stripped of their first round draft pick for that season and head coach Bill Belichick being fined $500,000.

When asked about the developing story, Scandrick dropped a telling memory about being a member of the Dallas Cowboys playing on the road against the Patriots. Scandrick, who was a cornerback for the Cowboys from 2008 to 2017, said Dallas players were instructed to never leave their playbooks in their hotel rooms when they weren’t in the rooms because there was a fear that New England had representatives do ‘sweeps’ of the hotel rooms that opposing teams were staying at to gather any intel that had been left out.
