Malathaat Wins Kentucky Oaks

(Louisville, KY) - Trainer Todd Pletcher is back in the Kentucky Oaks winner's circle and is now focused on doing the same on Saturday in the Kentucky Derby.

Morning line favorite Malathaat got Pletcher his first garland of Lillys in eight years, crossing under the wire a neck ahead of Search Results and two lengths ahead of third place finisher Will's Secret.

Malathaat, with John Velazquez aboard, remains undefeated and puts Pletcher in a position to be the first trainer to win Oaks and Derby in the same year since Ben Jones did it in 1952. Pletcher has four horses in the Derby field.

The Oaks ran before a crowd of more than 41,000 people due to COVID-19 restrictions.
