UofL, Schnatter Agree To Terminate Cardinal Stadium Naming Rights

(Louisville, KY) - A deal has been struck between the University of Louisville and Papa John's founder John Schnatter to give up naming rights.

Cardinal Stadium had been known as Papa John's Cardinal Stadium prior to Schnatter's use of a racial slur during a media training conference call.

The deal announced Thursday will pay Schnatter $9.5 million over five years. A $1.5 million payment is due immediately with the payoff completed in July of 2023.
