Senate Panel Considers Mueller Protection Bill

A bill that aims to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller gets a close look in a key Senate panel this morning.  The bipartisan measure grew out of concerns that President Donald Trump will move to fire Mueller.  The Judiciary Committee is expected to decide whether to refer the bill to the full Senate.  Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already said he would not put a Mueller protection bill on the floor of the Senate.

McConnell recently said he does not believe President Trump will fire the special counsel, who is investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.
