Solar Eclipse Viewing Locations In The New York Area

New Yorkers are getting ready for a partial eclipse of the sun.  While parts of the country will see a total eclipse of the moon perfectly aligning with the sun, the New York City area will notice about a 70% partial eclipse peaking at 2:44 pm on Monday.   New Yorkers and visitors alike can hang with the Amateur Astronomers Association in Pioneer Works Garden in Brooklyn or head to the Hayden Planetarium from noon to 4 pm.

The Liberty Science Center in Jersey City is offering Sun Globe Racing in inflatable hamster balls starting at 10 am.  Solar Eclipse black martinis will be served while watching from the roof at Hotel Americano in Manhattan.

Special solar eclipse glasses are recommended if you are taking in the phenomenon.
